I believe with the 199 Metallic Black the lowers should be 7700 Alto Grey Metallic which is a matte color. The strips should be painted to match the bumpers but on pre-94 cars they were unpainted black plastic. If yours is unpainted it was probably replaced at some point.

Both APS Tower Paint and Paintscratch.com are good online sources and will make custom matched spray paints in nearly any variety, 2-stage, acrylic, enamel, etc.

 

thanks... never realized the front bumper should have been painted all one color, I bought the car in 2005 like it is today except for the wheels.

I took my cladding off a 93 400E.

I need to respray my rear bumper -- it looks like it was resprayed at one point at near the wheel arches and the paint is cracking so I would like to do it again...

 

ps2cho... if you know the color code for the upper color of the two-tone car where you got the cladding from, Paintscratch.com shows matched two-tone paint options for Mercedes...

that 's how I confirmed my bumper/cladding color code after Komrade 124 made the correct suggestion...
