Mine glows very brightly. But I did clean the gear shifter lens. It seems like a lot of work when cleaning will probably fix it.

 

+ 1 The white plastic lighting channel under the lens cleans up nicely too.

 

The top of the shifter box comes off easily. Take the wood surround off first as per instructions on the forum. Then from memory I think it's just plastic pegs holding the top on? You'll see it as soon as you look.

Hmm can't quite remember, sorry. Think there's one at the front, its very easy to see once you have the wood piece off though.
Once dissembled you could use metal polish on the clear plastic window, it brings it up like new.
Cleaning the bits here makes it look much better.

 

BE CAREFUL!!! I just did this. Look very closely at the front of the black shifter "box" once the wood is removed. You will see 2 small black plastic square buttons. Pry these forward with a small pocket screwdriver and remove, THEN pry up on the front 2 sides of the box. These little pins (buttons) keep the clips from releasing when you pry up. The shifter lens and PRNDL simply lie there. You can lift them up enough to polish them. You will find dust, toothpicks, dimes and maybe illegal drugs in there under the wood!
