I went to a local hobby craft store here and picked up some of the transparent black window tint that most have used in other projects. While looking around I also saw a gloss custom transparent black. With the custom transparent black I had better results I thought. The most important key to good results is the prep work before paint. No silicone soaps whatsoever used. I went over the lights with a 600g wet followed by a 800g wet, green scrub pad after the sanding, another soap bath and then dry off with the air compressor. Tack rag, plastic safe adhesion promoter and let dry for an hour. I hit the lights with the transparent black window tint for the first two coats and wasn't liking the results. Went through the whole prep procedure again and started fresh with the other transparent gloss black. Hit it with two coats again and liked the result much better (wish I would have taken before and afters of the two). Went over with three more coats for a total of five, light coats with the transparent gloss black and then with three coats of clear coat. End result is what I wanted. Here in Indiana it's also legal for our 500' minimum. Looks black and blends in with the car but lets enough out to still be legal.
