Agree. I ran some Bosch Platinum Plus 4's for a while but recently changed back to stock plugs on the advice of my indy who told me that some of the newer plugs run too hot and could cause some engine damage. I'm sticking with original from now on. (although I must admit that I did notice a performance increase with the plus 4's:rolleyes:)

I know I have the I6 engine, not the same as your V8, but I just bought some to put into my car. I had good luck with them in other cars. I am sure the mercedes engines can handle them if my Honda engines could.

Bosch sparkplugs

I changed my sparkplugs from bosch platinum to the Bosch super plus yttrium sparkplugs and found that my acceleration was better, over 100 Km acceleration considerably better,Bosch says They could also save on fuel consumption,Too early for me to tell, since I just installed them..Regards speedmaster2

1999 SL500, 16 plugs.
What about the Bosch PLATINUM IR FUSION plugs. Are they worth it?

Thanks in advance for your input.

I would be very interested in seeing the before and after 0-60 or 60ft. times. If I could shave .5 seconds off my 0-60 times it would definately be worth the extra money.

In order to do any REAL meaningful compare, you have to do it with both sets of NEW plugs, as the old plugs may already in bad shape that ANY new plugs would show improvement.
