yes, any car audio shop worth a **** should be able to install one for you, I would definately recommend checking out the shop first. Make sure the work area is clean and organized, and ask if the installer is MECP Certified, how long they have been installing, and if the installer has installed a remote start in your model vehicle in the past. Any competent installer should not have a problem with this.

PS... BE WEARY of big box stores like Circuit City, Best Buy etc... they hire just about anyone. I was employed at best buy for a bit and I was AMAZED at the half-wit dumbasses that got hired as installers... If you DO go to one of those stores DEFINITELY ASK FOR CREDENTIALS!

im willing to tackle the project myself with some explanation, im pretty good with electronics in general i dont have the kind of money to pay someone to install it and i like doing this kind of stuff myself, is there any recommendation as to what brand remote starter or any accessories i need ?any diagrams ? i really need it we get cold here in canada and i have a 1 year old baby i gotta drive around so i dont want him being cold, hehe, any help is appreciated guys, thanks

on these cars I would not reccomend a do-it yourself install. I did mine, But i have been doing remote starts for the last 16 years, lol.. really... If you dont know what you are doing, Take it to a shop. ALSO --- Do not buy some Ebay junk remote start, go with something good manufactured by D.E.I. (Directed Electronics Incorporated) they make Clifford, Avital, Python, Sidewinder, Viper, and Valet brand... These units are great quality, and will work correctly. the ebay ones are junk.

I spoke to a tech guy from concept2000 here in NYC the place were I installed my HID headlights and he told me that if my 2003 ML500 has fiber optics then there is no way to install a remote starter. He told me to bring in the truck in on Monday and he will check for me. If the truck does not have fiber optics then he will be able to install a 2 way fm lcd remote starter. The installation will take a day and the cost would be from $600 to $700. You can locate the fiber optics underneath the stearing wheel base.

a remote starter should be able to be installed in any model car. the remote start gets complicated when you are trying to do it to manual transmission vehicles. installing the remote starter yourself is the hard part, and if you mess it up, you could end up burning up some component.

My uncle in FLA bought one in Canada very cheap and had it installed at a car audio center on his 99 S420 and it works fine. With one click you start the car and turn it off. It took less than an hour for installation.

Eddie
