I did a search and everybody says to reach up under the car and you should be able to replace the front side marker bulbs...HAHAHA yeah right. Their is plastic that covers the whole under side of the engine so you have absolutely no access to it unless you remove a hundred screws. But anyways i was wondering if their was any way to remove the side marker lens to expose the bulb because the lens or the whole housing is really loose. I would force it off but I am afraid to break the dang thing. I also opened the engine and their is also no way to get to the bulb either. Any information will be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Da lenzes!!

It was really nice meeting you. Nice to put a face to the threads ! After seeing your Magma Red car ..I am now in persuit of a Magma Red CLK 55 !
BTW...I got 28mpg on the way back home !:D

Be careful popping the lens off. I use a butter knife and a cloth and wedge the knife wrapped in a cloth behind the top rear corner of the side marker and it pops right out. Then you twist the bulb out of the housing.

Push lens forward a little, then pop out with screwdriver. They come off very easy. Pop off at the rear of lens, not front
thanks people for these posts. I went to the dealer yesterday and purchased the side marker bulbs from the parts department. so i ask the guy "parts expert" if I just pop off the cover and he tells me "no, you access the bulb from underneath the car" basically i bought the bulbs and left. came home tonight, did a quick google search and you guys have my answer right here. so i just replaced the two side marker bulbs on my 2000 E55. it was a snap. only one bulb was out but I figured it is always good to replace them in pairs. plus the bulbs were only a few bucks each. I had a bad brake light and that was a snap to replace also.

cheers

Gotta love the dealerships....

This is the most useful thread I have read in a while. I was climbing all under my car, inside the engine bay...etc. What a dork. It took me all of 2 minutes to change the bulb using the above applied instructions (butter knife, soft cloth). The most time consuming part was driving to the dealership to get the bulb. Even that turned out to be pretty cool. The guy gave me the bulbs and I asked, "how much?", and he said "FREE! it ain't worth the paperwork". Sweet.
