1985 380 SL: Newbie question: My car won't start and I am going to try to jump --how?

Any comments appreciated.

I jump start my 560SL like any other car.
Attach cables from good battery positive to SL positive battery terminal, negative to SL body ground.

os...since you don't specify your problem jumping the car, I'll take a stab. The battery is located in the trunk on the right side. Remove the carpet that covers it, unlatch the 2 cover hold downs and open the battery compartment. Then it's just a matter of pos to pos, neg to neg.

well my did tried it with a portable charger and no luck it just makes click click sound but it wont turn over. I told him to try car battery to car battery and see.

Could be something else?

Yes could be.
Try with good battery. If still no crank, make sure battery to ground and battery to starter connections are all good. After that, you are looking at solenoid/starter problems.
