so I have this crazy idea, but these cars are getting dirt cheap, the still look really good, and i have the required mechanical and electrical skills needed for such crazy ideas... so here it is:

how wide and long is the engine compartment in the C124 (300CE for example)?

anyone tried to fit M120 in there? i know the AMG models can take the M117 and M119 with no problems(500E and 400E), but for an extremist like me, would it be possible to fit the 1992 V12 in that body?

isnt cool to have a C124, with V12 and manual tranny?

It has been done, but it won't be easy. The m120 is an awesome motor, and the w124 is a stupendous car/chassis, but they really weren't intended for eachother's intimate company like that. Too greats don't always make greatest. I'd get an r129 with a v12 or a w140 with a v12 and enjoy them at that... you can find w124's with v12's in europe every so often, but the motor is shoehorned into a 500E engine bay and servicing it would be a nightmare. I like the idea aswell, but the pratciality and cost kills that dream quicker than others.

DO some research, there is an outfit in MI that has put the m120 in a w126 coupe with the 4spd auto. That is an amazing combo!

i found it, and after looking at the picture, i think its really hard to stick a V12 in there, i mean the W126 is barely wrapping around the M126, go fegure what would be in the W124!

omg o_O this is cranky... A V12!?!??! Woha... How many HP?? This is unbelievable.. I don't think that a W124 would keep this motor... it's too big, too strong for the chassis I think.. o_O omg
the stock M120 will make less HP than the stock M119 V8 found in the E63, the goal is the smoothness of operation more than HP.

that is insane! How would you ever be able to do any work on that car? You'd have to pull the engine to do anything!
thats the only bad thing about it, and you are absolutly right, i mean look at the clearance between the front of the engine and the radiator!

also, that W126 has a 1000 bucks aluminium radiator, howver, i dont know if that makes the car more practical (heat wise)

i know off no 6.3 liter M119 engine. thats not to say they dont exist, im saying i know off no such thing.

i DO know there was a limited edition E60 which made less hp than the 389 the M120 made according to this page. the new 6.3 liter is NOT an M119 as found in sundry 124s, 140s and 129s.

and im not sure where one would even source a manual transmission for a beast like the one envisioned. itd certainly be very truckish.

The E60 M119 engine has to be a better bet for the W124. It's physically smaller, lighter, has more torque and some say more power than the M120 V12.
If you're going to all that trouble to get a V12 in you may as well make it a 7.3.
I imagine a Coupe would understeer horribly with all that weight up front.

good points...

I really think a wicked coupe would be to take a w124 and drop a 5.5L blown AMG motor, forget the stick, the autos can shift quicker. That would fit, and would be one hell of a ride. Not to mention you have better build quality than the CLK's.

badass sleeper

Would be awesome to swap an m120 and bmw 850ci manual tranny into a w201. Put those ricers in their place permanently >:D
my 300e 5spd can take a mustang and a newer charger but not those paper chassis s2000's :(
