Hi Zen,

Thank you for your quick response.

Looks like I'm in a really big trouble... Never thought such a recent van could give any kind of trouble...

Do you have any idea of where I should look for one of these?
Do you know some place where to look for?
Do you know someone who might have one?

Regards,

Tiago

This thread has been very helpful. When trying to put the unit back together I have "lost" the connector between the heater control knob and the unit behind. There is a white plastic component with two swivel ends which fits into the black unit on the white fixed control unit, it is the black bit I have lost. It is somewhere behind the dash, I successfully retrieved the white part but cannot find the black bit, any ideas?
I have removed the radio and tray below but cannot see how to remove the dark grey bit housing the gear lever. Any suggestions appreciated

Hi,

I agree, it has to be there somewhere. If you take the lid beneath the gear knob you should be able to track it.

Another hint might be to get a piece of electric cable - making sure the end are sealed so to avoid any possible short circuits - and try to get into unaccessible places. This would be so to shake that black linkage out of place until you can get it.

That, or that same piece of electric cable with a bit of double sided stiky tape so to try to catch that part.

Regards,

Tiago

PS: I might be the only person with this problem in the world. I still have no hot air coming out. Just cold. I'm looking forward to get one from someone. It's easier to find those without aircon.

Thanks guys, been away. I did take out the radio and cubby below but still no sign of it but I decided to cut my losses and I managed to get the part from CPS breakers for a very reasonable sum and avoided taking the rest of the dash apart just to find it.
Thanks for your help and I hope you manage to get hot air before the winter Tiago!

Hi guys, I was told that this should be the place to post any topics concerning Vitos. I'm Trying to figure out if the problem occuring with my Vito is easily done by me. I have to say that I'm pretty handy with tools and no shy to disassemble and reassemble any parts. My van is a 1.2010, 111 Vito LWB. It is not warranty covered anymore. The air heating system is not blowing hot air. Air is blowing alright, but no heat, even when the engine is hot enough. (Hot air should come out after about 10mins run anyway). Already checked the fuses. No blown fuse apparently. Can anyone give me any advice on what to check next? I'm going to check the back of the heater control switch to check if anything's wrong there. Please help as it's winter time here... I would appreciate any kind of help. Please help, Best regards and many thanks in advance, TMonteiro More info: Engine is ok, never had any problem, no runing too hot nor too cold. Air is blowing alright but no hot air. Fuses seem to be ok. Coolant level is topped always and has never been renewd. Problem started all the suden with no apparent reason. No warning lights on the dash.
Hi Tiago, I’ve got the same problem, did you ever solve it?

Hi all,
Has anyone fixed there W639 Vito heater with this not blowing hot fault??
I've replaced heater valve with a New genuine Mercedes heater valve & tried 2 second hand heater control panels & still no hot air. Are all 3 control panels not talking to the control valve ???
Regards, Rob (UK)

Hi Rob, re dual accounts, just contact us when you are back from holiday.

Hey guys, I found a cold heater problem in my W639, 2011. The problem was with the water pump, which didn't show any of the traditional problems that come with a pump problem, no water leaks, no extraneous noise or vibration, nothing. The problem was actually inside the pump, the metal ring that surrounds the pump impeller had come out so much that it covered the impeller and it couldn't build pressure anymore. The gasket was also coming out inside, but it still worked. You can easily check if it's the water pump's fault, disconnect the rubber hose going to the internal radiator and start the engine. Remove the hose at the highest point of the engine, there is no pressure there until you open the expansion tank. Leave the expansion tank closed! If water doesn't flow through the tube when you start the engine, it means the water pump isn't building pressure!. It's also very easy to check if your radiator is clogged or not. Extend the hose going to the internal radiator and blow into the hose with your mouth, if water flows out of the disconnected end, it means there are no blockages in the cooling system. The expansion tank plug must be closed!
