Just finished upgrading my ML. I've installed wood steering wheel, Panasonic 9" dvd system, 18" AMG wheels, Manik Running board and fron bull bar. There is one more thing that I need to do - install halogen lamps on the bull bar. Everything else is done, at least for now.

Please reply tothis post and let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Yevgeniy

I will second that. The wheels really look good.

How much did the DVD player go for? My kid is driving me nuts for one. I might just have to spring for one. I heard the Panasonics are nice.

Yup ... looks very nice. I would put some tint on it and the updated headlights. Those two mods would make a world of a difference.

I got this dvd player on eBay for $499. In Circuit City, Good Guys and Best Buy they go for $800. If you want refurbished, you can get one on eBay for around $350.

Installation is $200. I have switch so I can use head phones and also through car stereo system.

Plus it has a SD card slot so I plug my 1 GB card with MP3's. It gives me another source of new music, if I am tired of cd's in my CD changer.

eBay is the best source to get this player. You will save tons of money.

I have found this one and will be getting it for my other car

Looks really great. The AMG rims make it look even better.

Now, get rid of the AMG badge on the rear - you don't want to pretend after all the nice mod, do you? If you decide to kep the badge, then go all the way - get the hood, lower valance, the exhaust and the AMG from facia.

Other than the badge, it looks very nice.

good start but if you atleast got 20's it would be better ..............but 18's are more comfortable but overall i like what you are doing great start good luck with your future upgrades

I was about to say the same thing about AMG tag
Its look so cheap and funny for those who knows about ML AMG and for the others---they dont give a damn coze they dont know what the hell is AMG mean :)

PS BTW i seen LORINZER tag on EBAY[;)] in case you want upgrade your ML

I like the step bars! Much better than the round chrome! Go for broke and do the signal mirrors and the chrome grill kit.

I agree with Darkmann, do the whole thing if you're going to have the AMG badging on it or take it off.

Real freezing ride![:)]

Been There Done That

TO badge or not to badge has been discussed ad nauseum on this board. A real AMG has a hand crafted engine built in Germany. A quasi-AMG is regularly sold in Europe when it has all of the exterior AMG stuff despite the standard base model engine--kind of like the old BMW 318ti that had the M badge from the factory because of it's exterior "M" package with no engine upgrade. I have no problem with badging. Slap on all the Lorinser, AMG, Kleemann, SS, Type-S, Si, V-Tec, ///M, Dinan, et al. badges you want. Most people don't care. To each his own. It's not hurting anyone. Not fooling all of us either but who cares.

I saw a ML500 with an AMG badge, it has some agressive fender flares and some other mods, but I thought that the badge degraded the car because it showed A. lack of knowledge to take the 0 off and B. it seems disrespectful to AMG and the people who drive their hand built engines.

I agree with you its not hurting anyone and your certainly not fooling anyone either. nice mods.

Most all MBZ models have an option for a “sport package. On some, it’s even called the “AMG Appearance Package. This will include many of the exterior and interior trim components from the corresponding AMG model. Of course it does not include any of the performance components (engine, transmission, steering, brakes, suspension, exhaust etc.) Theses packages also leave out other AMG-specific features trim like specially contoured seats, upgraded leather, etc. The CLK500 actually comes standard with the AMG Appearance Package and even has several components badged as AMG included the wheels and the tailpipe, even though it is not a “real AMG.

Do these models make it to the U.S.?

If so, do they get the trunk badge or not? I believe they do get the badge in Europe but I could be wrong about that.

What is the best place (online) or maybe in or around San Francisco area to get these additional mods (hood, lower valance, the exhaust)?

Thanks,

No, they do not get the “AMG badge on the trunk lid. Like I said, the wheels have the AMG logo, but interestingly, they are smaller than the “real AMG wheels, so I guess it’s just an “AMG design. Same with the tailpipe – the real CLK55 has different tailpipes.

Looks great.......

l agree.......Tint the front windows to match, add the rear filler strip on the back of the hatch and upgrade the headlights....As for the AMG badge..if you like it....who cares.....l had the badge of my 99 ML 430..l liked it...l know, l wasn't fooling anyone, but l thought that it looked good....Now that, l have a real "AMG"....it still doesn't bother me..."Just don't try racing me".....[;)] Great job !!!!!!
