Attached is a diagram I made of the complete vacuum system, I am chasing a central locking and light range adjuster problem.

I have been tracking down a vacuum leak to a disconnected hose to the full load enrichment valve. That would certainly explain the light range adjuster problem, possibly the reason for loss of vacuum to the central locking too.

The valve and several lines are well hidden below the fuel distributor at the throttle valve. Had to cut a short L-shaped Allan key to undo the valve bolt. Limited space and thread locking compund had been used by MB.

During the trouble-shooting I discovered that the engine check-valve (A0011401660) seemed restricted and was not working as a one way valve.

Is there anything special about this valve or can I as a temporary measure use a standard one?

The check valves are there to hold vacuum in the reservoirs when the engine is shut down. Your central locking system will not work without them since usually the engine is off when you are locking and unlocking the car.
